How to access VLC Media Player through a Web Browser?
Vlc media player can be accessed through the web browser and in fact it has all almost a full featured player implemented in the Web interface. In order to turn on the Web Interface perform the following steps:Step 1: Open VLC Media Player –> Select View from Menu Bar –> Add Interface –> Click Web Interface.
Step 2: Open your favorite web browser on the client.Type the IP address (or URL) of the host in the location field (address bar). You may need to specify the port (VLC defaults to using port 8080). An example is http://127.0.0.1:8080 or http://localhost:8080 (Here 127.0.0.1 and localhost refers to the local machine).
Note: Often people enable the web interface and close the vlc media player. In that case you cannot access the web interface. Moreover you have to select all your songs and videos through the vlc media player’s interface as you cannot load songs or videos through the web interface. You can only play, pause, stop, change and remove tracks which are already on vlc media player’s playlist. Video files are viewed in media player only it will not be played on the web interface although you can rewind and forward your video from the web interface. For more information please read the vlc wiki here.
